Plan Termination? Don’t Panic!
Your Local Medicare Broker Has Your Back
If you recently received a letter saying your Medicare Advantage plan is ending in 2026, you’re not alone. These types of plan terminations — often due to carrier cutbacks, market exits, or low star ratings — can feel overwhelming. But here’s the good news: you have several options, and a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) gives you the chance to make a confident decision.
What Happens If Your Plan Is Terminated?
When a plan is discontinued by the insurance company (not because you moved or missed a payment), you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period that allows you to:
- Switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan, or
- Enroll in a Medicare Supplement plan (Medigap) without medical underwriting — a rare opportunity usually only available when you’re new to Medicare.
This SEP typically begins December 8 and continues for two full months after your plan ends. But don’t wait. Making your choice early means:
- No gap in coverage
- Time to review doctors, prescriptions, and extra benefits
- Peace of mind for January 1st
Why a Trusted Broker Makes All the Difference
Navigating Medicare on your own is already tricky. But when your plan disappears? You need more than a call center or a 1-800 number. You need a local, dependable broker who understands your specific needs, coverage area, and health concerns.
At Capstone Health, we’re proud that many of our clients were already calm and informed before any official termination notices were mailed. That’s the power of working with a local independent agent — we don’t just enroll you and disappear. We keep you updated on changes, act as your advocate year-round, and help you review your plan every single AEP.
If you’re in New Port Richey, Trinity, Hudson, Port Richey, Spring Hill, Holiday, Tarpon Springs, Brooksville, or anywhere in Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando, or Hillsborough counties, Capstone is your neighborhood team for clear, personal guidance.
